BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS) FOR HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS

Course Description
The BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS) FOR HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS Course is designed to teach the skills of 1 & 2 Rescuer CPR for the Adult, Child, and Infant, as well as, teaching the Choking Techniques for the Adult, Child, and Infant.  Students will also learn how to use the Bag-Mask Ventilator and the CPR Pocket Mask for the Adult, Child, and Infant.  Use of the Advanced Airway and Jaw Thrust, as well as, use of the Adult and Child AED (Automated External Defibrillator) will be emphasized with one-on-one hands on training and testing on the AED.

The course is DVD video-based with instructor-led discussion and simulation.  Students participate in skills practice and testing, thereby, completes various skills and learning stations which is ideal for learners who prefer group interaction and feedback from an instructor while learning skills.

Each student receives the highest quality course materials to supplement their learning which includes information on CPR and AED that the student can reference after the course.

Student CD-ROM (included with student text) is given to the student which contains supplemental information for interested students on topics such as stroke, cardiac arrest, and special resuscitation situations.  A CPR Pocket Mask is also given to the student to use for student manikin practice, as well as, using it on an emergency after the course.

Delivery Format
The class is a traditional class style format with the instructor and student having their own manikins and following the instructional DVD video and instructor-led discussion and simulation.

Course Length
The course usually takes about 5 and one-half to 6 hours to complete the instructional DVD video and  completing the Advanced Airway, Jaw Thrust, Adult and Child AED Skills, as well as, completing the Adult, Child, and Infant CPR, Choking, Bag-Mask Ventilator, and CPR Pocket Mask Skills.

Intended Audience
This course is designed for healthcare providers such as EMS personnel, physicians, physician assistants, dentists, nurses, nursing students, respiratory therapists, and for people wanting to learn who must have a credential (card) documenting successful completion of a CPR course.

Written Exam and Skills Session
Written exam, skills practice sessions, and skills testing with a Last Minute CPR & First Aid Instructor.

Card Type and AHA Certification
AHA BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS) FOR HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS course completion card will be issued when students successfully complete the course.  This card has a 2 year expiration date.
